Personal development
Personal development Lead: Mrs Ladier
Vision
At Menorah Foundation, our mission is to nurture happy, healthy young individuals who possess the knowledge, academic achievement and strength of character to lead safe and successful lives in modern Britain. We aim to prepare them for the next stages of their education, fostering a lifelong passion for learning.
Our ethos is encapsulated in the motto 'Torah im Derech Eretz,' which reflects our belief in the importance of balancing traditional values with engagement in the wider world. We emphasise respect, tolerance, and understanding of others from all walks of life.
We approach Personal Development as a whole-school initiative. Our students are encouraged to participate in a broad range of activities and experiences, both within and beyond the curriculum, actively contributing to the life of the school and the wider community. Through this engagement, they learn to appreciate their own value, develop a strong sense of identity, and become equipped to take their place in society while respecting and collaborating with others.
How We Teach Personal Development at MFS
Our Personal Development aims are embedded in all aspects of school life; every interaction between students and adults presents a learning opportunity. This curriculum focuses on activities and experiences that enhance self-awareness, foster individual talents and potential, build character and cultural capital, improve quality of life, and nurture aspiration in our children.
Our whole-school approach to Personal Development is comprehensively mapped out in an overview. Certain elements are directly taught, while others are delivered through the PSHE curriculum, Kodesh curriculum, assemblies, or enriched by external visits, experiences and guest speakers.
